MBS program in 2016 

Sunday 29 May, 5.30pm – 7.30pm

Rev Dr Geoff Thompson  is Co-ordinator of Studies in Systematic Theology at Pilgrim Theological College, the theological college of the VIC/TAS Synod of the UCA. 

Geoff will give a talk entitled – “Culture, Beliefs and Theology”. Under this heading we will explore some of the conversations happening in Australian society at the edge of or outside the church, about such topics as God, Jesus, and the Bible. We will eavesdrop on academics, comedians, Politian’s and social commentators.  

Sunday 26 June, 5.30pm – 7.30pm

Assoc Prof Elizabeth M Dax AM is the Executive Chair of the Dax Centre.

Elizabeth will give a talk entitled – “Art towards Mental Health”. The Cunningham Dax Collection of more than 15,000 art works created by people with experience of mental illness, is unique and one of only three like collections in the world.  The Dax Centre uses the art works to promote understanding of mental illness and empathy with the issues portrayed.  The aim is to educate; offering increased sympathy with, and reduced stigma against, mentally ill people.

Talks are followed soup and bread and then a short reflective service.
