Concerts
Then
Since its establishment as a Presbyterian congregation in 1951, the North Balwyn Uniting Church (formerly St Aidan’s) has been active in presenting music events of all kinds from musical comedy to string quartets.
From 1987 until 2012, St Aidan’s Music Society Inc. presented over 200 concerts in its annual series. It had a mailing list (including email) of some 200.
In its 25 year history, the Society raised some $500,000 to provide a fine three-manual organ for the church and for recitals, as well as a grand piano. The Society was discontinued as an incorporated Arts organisation at the end of 2012.
Now
A new Music Committee of the Church Council will continue to present concerts from 2013. The concerts are open to the local community and beyond.
Admission prices (usually $20-$25) include refreshments and an opportunity to meet the performers.
Parking is easy and access for the disabled is level.
